I need YOUR help...

with the 2009 " REAL sheep wear SHETLAND wool" Calendar!

Mom needs your help! She's got way too many photos that she really loves and she can't decide which ones to use in the 2009 "REAL sheep wear SHETLAND wool" Calendar.

So, Mom made a web album on Picasa and you can look through the pictures and VOTE for your favorites!

I've gotta warn you: there are LOTS of pictures! You don't have to go through them all. You can look at the 'thumbnails' and only enlarge the ones that catch your eye. There's a comment box below each photo ~ you can vote in there (please pick your favorite 12 to 15 photos.

If you'd rather keep your picks to yourself, you can email Mom and if you want to share your votes, leave on comment on HERE!

But, HURRY! Mom's got to get the photographs in by Wednesday so she can get the calendars delivered in time for Christmas!!!

Come on Everyone! We need your help ~ PLEASE go VOTE....

Why does that sound so familiar???

Working Overtime...

* Click on any image to "biggify" *

I'm putting lots of overtime hours in at work. Gotta make the money while the money's there to be made! Since I am such a visual person, I decided to decorate my cubicle at work so that I feel more 'at home' when I'm there...

Plus, it reminds me what I'm working so hard for!

I actually went in on Friday (my day off) and put up these decorations. It's so festive! I love it. I made sure to have lights and pictures of my sheep right at eye level so that it would be a cheerful place for me to spend many hours...

I used Christmas gift warp for the 'wall paper' and cut out pictures of my sheep from one of my extra REAL SHEEP calendars. I'm very pleased with the results and actually look forward to going into work!

Two of "my babies" are leaving today. And then I go to WORK...

Happy Holidays,Everyone!

The BOYS in the BLUFF COUNTRY...

If there is one THEME apparent with the boys in the Bluff Country (other than the obvious, obnoxious one!) it appears to be Keep your friends close and your enemies closer!"

Notice Hunter and Moon in this series of photos...

My ROOSTERS (yes, Lucca is definitely a BOY) are also spending a lot more time together.

Bruce seems to enjoy the company of his son and is showing him how to be a rooster.

Lucca is really beginning to develop some beautiful color!

Only one more week until I separate off my breeding group.

Who will it be????

"Diva and I aren't telling. But, I gotta say, that Alice sure is being a tart! All she does is stand by the fence and make GOO-Goo Eyes at Hunter!"

Blogging Friends Forever Award!....

The incredibly talented Eileen at Knot All That has shared the BFF award with MOM! Mom is very jealous of Eileen's spinning and color blending skills! She comes by her talent naturally ~ Eileen's Mom is the author of a lovely book called "The Wee Mad Road" about a middle-aged couple who decide to chuck modern life and become SHEPHERDS in the Scottish Highlands!! Now, THAT's my kind of book!! Thank you Eileen, Mom's really proud of her award!

P.S. (note from Nancy): when you're visiting the Knot All That blogspot, check the archives for pictures of the unbelievably beautiful QUILT Eileen's Mom made. I've never seen anything like it...

Mom said that since today's post was supposed to be about SHEEP we can tell you the rules and introduce Mom's nominations for the Blogging Friends Forever Award.

The Rules: As these things go, there are rules, and now Mom must follow them:

(1) Only five people are allowed
(2) Four have to be followers of your blog
(3) One has to be someone new to your blog or live in another part of the world
(4) You must link back to whoever gave you the award.

Mom's Nominations:

Kristi at Harvest Thyme Homestead "Harvest Thyme Homestead has grown out of a love for the simpler times of life. Its roots begin with a belief in oneself and that in time, the harvest of ones hardwork will create a place of warmth, love, and solitude even if its just you and your animals. I call this home."

Becca at Shepherd Chick's Musings "This is my general day to day thoughts and activities as well as likely way more info that you ever wanted or needed on far too many subjects. Most are related to my sheep, spinning, and my obsessive compulsive knitting habit. My mind wanders, though, so there is some off topic ranting at times"

From 'across the Pond' we have The Wandering Gecko "The life and times of Jenny Holden: Water Vole Conservation Officer for Cumbria Wildlife Trust, freelance wildlife and travel writer, nature lover and novice shepherd."

Bella loves the dogs at: Fairlight Farm "Like a walk through the country side living on a small farm is full of daily surprises, sometimes wonderful and amazing, and other times puzzling and sad. I hope you will walk with me as I live out my dream of living on this tiny farm. You will come to know the dogs, cats, Shetland sheep and chickens that make up this farm and what goes into keeping them happy and healthy. Come and join the journey with me."
If you read nothing else today, please read the remarkable story of "Boone" and how he came to live at Fairlight Farm. WARNING: have tissues handy!

DREAM says...

..."That was kind of FUN!"

Glad you approve, Dreamer...

FOLLOW UP...

Off The Needles and On The Hanger!

I apologize for being such a braggard, but I just LOVE my new shawl and am very proud of having actually FINISHED something!

It's not really longer on one side ~ that's just the way it's draped over the hanger. I love how big it is! The front drapes down to my knees and the back covers my butt!

I am notorious for never finishing a knitting project that I start. I have to keep buying new baskets to put my latest projects in because my other baskets are occuppied with various UFOs...

DREAM says...

..."Very nice, Mom. The Girls and I were thinking that maybe you could talk about us SHEEP a little more???"

I'll get right on that, Dreamer!

OFF The Needles...
a.k.a. What I REALLY Love about my Job!

It's DONE!
Well, all except darning in the ends and adding tassels on the two corners

I used the beautiful, red roving that I bought two years ago and used the multi-color roving that I bought at the Wisconsin Sheep & Wool Festival for the border. I made the pattern up as I went along and am VERY happy with how it turned out!

I was afraid that I would screw up the border. I've never knitted one on before. Although, I did make this quite easy ~ just picked up the live stitches and knit in a different color. That probably doesn't even qualify as a real "border", but I'm happy with it!

I knit the Whole Thing at work! One of the perks of working the later evening hours is that there are quiet times when we don't get a lot of calls. I don't have to pretend to busy. So, I KNIT!

DREAM says...

..."Nice, Mom. Are you gonna come FEED us now???"

I'm on my way Dreamer. On my way!

P.S. I've been having 'blogger issues' for the past few days and could not only not post ~ I was also unable to leave comments on anyone else's blog. VERY frustrating as there were some wonderful posts out there! Apparently, Blogger decided to change my user name and password without telling me. Seriously!

Thank You (Deb) For The Award
and More of My Favorite Photos...

*As always, click on image to enlarge *

Deb, at Tylerfarm Homestead surprised me with this blog award this morning. Thank you Deb! Um, but Deb, I just noticed that the link to my blog, from yours, does not work... ;-)

According to Deb:
The Uber (synonym to Super) Amazing Blog Award is a blog award given to sites who:

~inspire you
~make you smile and laugh
~maybe gives you amazing information
~is a great read
~has an amazing design
~and any other reasons you can think of that makes them Uber amazing!

The rules of this award are:
*put the logo on your blog or post.
*Nominate at least 5 blogs or more that for you are Uber Amazing!
*Let them know that they have received this Uber Amazing award by commenting on their blog.
*Share the love and link to this post and to the person you received your award from.

There is NO WAY I'm going to try to narrow my favorite blogs down to just 5 (I know, I'm a coward!) so please, if you're on my "blog roll" on the sidebar on the right side of this page, consider yourself nominated! The reason I have links to all the blogs on my sidebar is because they are all great reading and have lots of lovely photographs. Although, if I could only nominate ONE blog ~ it would be my 'adopted sister's, Corrine, at Crosswinds Farm Not only is Corrine a beautiful, sweet, kind and generous woman, she is a hilarious blogger, a dedicated craftswoman, and a great sister. (that ought to be worth at LEAST a pumpkin cake!) ;-) Please visit her blog ~ you'll be glad you did.

My planned post for today is more of my Favorite Photos of All Time. I had a wonderful time going through my albums, this morning, choosing pictures to use. I ended up selecting 97. I guess I really do take a lot of picutres! Don't worry ~ I won't come close to posting them all here. at least not today....

Here are just a few of my favorites. Some make me laugh and some make me cry. It was an interesting stroll down memory lane...

My kittens, Daisy & Lily came into my life at Just the right time. They kept me smiling through some very difficult months after:

The Letter
Fortunately, it's very difficult to stay depressed when one has two kittens in the house!

My delightful, Angora goats were living in the backyard that year as well.
They brought many smiles to my face!

Saying Good-bye to "My Big Black Puppy" was heartbreaking

As was saying good-bye to the most beautiful Shetland ram I have ever known

But new friends have come into my life...

and brought me much joy.

Bellamica has firmly entrenched herself in my heart

and proven to be a great help around the place!

And then there are the LAMBS!

Those delightful creatures ~ gifts from my beautiful Ladies ~ that have so brightened my life...

And give me much to Look Forward to...

DREAM says...

"'Specially ME!"

That's right Dreamer!! You'll always be my special lamb...
